Face and Neck Relaxation Technique

  1. Sit Comfortably in a quiet, tranquil place, close your eyes and take a couple deep breaths. Be aware of your whole body, feel where the tension is and imagine releasing this tension. Loosen and relax your face and body.
  2. Gently turn your head to the right and hold it firmly, then turn your head left and hold it firmly, then bring your head back to the centre.
  3. Sitting comfortably, your spine should be straight, breathe in and out slowly. Gentle lower your head until our chin rests on or near your chest, keep breathing slowly. Raise your head and lower it very gently backwards, then slowly return to centre. (Avoid any force when you are doing these movements.)
  4. Use the fingers as a comb and massage the entire scalp from the hair line all the way back to the neck, using a stroking motion.
  5. Extend your tongue as far as possible and hold for a few seconds, then quickly pull back. Repeat three times.
  6. Place your palms on your opposite shoulder and take deep breaths for a few seconds.

The general rule for the following steps is for the muscles to be stretched gently to their limit (avoid force), hold that position for ten seconds then slowly release. Repeat twice only.

  1. Raise eyebrows as high as you can; stretch them up with your eyes wide open.
  2. Keep your eyes firmly closed and at the same time move your nose.
  3. Hold your back teeth together without tension and stretch the corners of your mouth towards your chin.
  4. Keep holding your back teeth together without tension and stretch your mouth towards the sides.
  5. Stretch your chin towards your neck.
  6. Raise your shoulder upwards.
  7. Sit straight and try to push your shoulder blades as close as possible together.
